Data value area disappears when I write to the user even w/ ID protection

Latest Updated:11/10/2015

Question:

Even though I have enabled the ID code protection function in an RX MCU, the value in a data area disappears when I write to the user area.

Answer:

The cause can be considered to be one of the following.

  • The control code of the ID code protection function is set to “delete”.
Depending on the control code, flash memory may be deleted without authentication of the ID code.
For details, refer to the section on flash memory in the hardware manual of the MCU you are using.
  • Writing in USB boot mode
Use boot mode for the following MCUs instead of USB boot mode, since the user and data areas are completely deleted without authentication of the ID code when starting up in USB boot mode. RX621, RX62N, RX630, RX631, RX63N, and RX63T
*The ID code protection function is enabled in the USB boot mode of RX100, RX200, some RX600 (RX64M group), and RX700 series products.
For details, refer to the section on flash memory in the hardware manual of the MCU you are using.
