Definition for number of times flash memory rewriting is performed?

Latest Updated:02/27/2012

Question:

What is the definition for the number of times flash memory rewriting can be performed?

Answer:

The definition for the number of rewriting times is the number of erases for every block.
For example, if 4,096 1-word writes are performed to block 4, an 8 Kbytes block, and then the block is erased, the erasure endurance will be counted as one. With regard to products in which the programming and erasure endurance is 100 times, 1-word can be written 4,096x100 times.
However, please be aware that overwrite rewriting cannnot be performed without first erasing the area that is written to.
