Does Vector Interrupt Processing Run per Subsystem Clock

Last Updated:05/25/2018

Question:

After the system enters the HALT mode while the subsystem clock is running but the main system clock is stopped, if this mode is canceled using an unmasked interrupt, vector interrupt processing occurs. Does this vector interrupt processing run according to the subsystem clock as it is?

Answer:

Yes, vector interrupt processing will run according to the subsystem clock as it is.
Note that even if you cancel the HALT mode by using an unmasked interrupt, that does not guarantee that vector interrupt processing will be executed.
If the CPU is in the DI state, the HALT mode will be simply canceled and no vector processing will be executed.
